Ground was ceremoniously broken Thursday, May 15, for a new Murphy Tractor and Equipment Company facility to be located on Mayhew Road just off State Route 32 in Jackson.

Murphy is a construction and forestry dealer – specializing in items such as bulldozers, excavators, and backhoes. The business is currently located in Chillicothe, but the entire operation is being moved from there to Jackson.

Branch Manager John Meeks explained several factors made Jackson an ideal place to re-locate the business including highway access, working with City of Jackson officials, and proximity to the customer base.

Meeks joined representatives from Geiger Brothers, Inc., general contractor for the project, as well as City of Jackson officials for the ground-breaking festivities.

The new Jackson Murphy Tractor and Equipment will be a full sales, service, and parts facility. It will feature several bays with full maintenance capabilities, a wash bay, and a sales floor. Around 17 will be employed when it opens 8 to 10 months from now.
